Privè sofa

Product Details
Privè is a sofa designed by Paolo Nava for Arflex in 1987. The piece reflects the brand’s late-1980s approach to technical structure and comfort-driven form.
The frame combines mesh with aluminum tubing upholstered in black leather. The seat and cushions are recessed and upholstered in fabric, and the angled relationship between armrests, backrest, and seat creates a welcoming silhouette defined by soft, continuous curves.
Produced in a period closely associated with experimentation in materials and construction, the Privè sofa is of particular interest to collectors of post-1980s Italian design and Arflex production.

Paolo Nava
Born in Seregno in 1943, Paolo Nava is an Italian architect and designer trained in industrial design. After a period of study in England, in 1972 he co-founded the Citterio–Nava studio with Antonio Citterio, initiating a practice that significantly influenced the evolution of domestic design from the 1970s onward. His work focuses on defining functional and formal archetypes, developed through direct experimentation with materials and three-dimensional testing in the workshop. Nava conceives design as a rigorous and concrete process, where project, use, and durability over time are inseparable elements.
