Product Details

Armchair designed by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand, 1928. Produced by Cassina since 1965 as part of the iMaestri collection.

Commonly known as the LC3, the Fauteuil Grand Confort, grand modèle is built around a clear separation between frame and cushions. The external chrome-plated steel structure encloses large cushions upholstered in Cat. X leather, creating a precise balance between geometric rigour and comfort. Polyester wadding adds softness to the seat, while the relationship between structure and upholstery remains the defining feature of the design. In both construction and language, the project holds a central place in twentieth-century modern design. The collection is also available on request as a two- or three-seater sofa, as an armchair with angled backrest, and in an outdoor version.

Le Corbusier, Perriand & Jeanneret

The collaboration between Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand took shape in Paris during the 1920s, within the Rue de Sèvres Atelier. After starting his practice with Pierre Jeanneret in 1922, Le Corbusier brought Charlotte Perriand on board in 1927. Lasting until 1937, this partnership proved decisive in the field of furniture design, where architecture and furnishings were conceived as parts of a single system, in which function, space, and daily life were closely intertwined. From this collaboration emerged a series of projects that combined conceptual rigor, technical experimentation, and industrial production, laying the foundation for a modern design language that would remain central in design history.
