Product Details
Side table designed by Meret Oppenheim for the Leo Castelli Gallery, 1939. Produced by Cassina since 2013.
Traccia revisits the surrealist design originally conceived by Meret Oppenheim and first known as Bird Leg Table. The elliptical top features a modified version of the footprints introduced in 1971, relating directly to the cast bronze base, with its slender legs and claw feet. The top is made of plywood, finished on the upper side in gold leaf or white gold leaf. Cassina’s reissue preserves the piece’s singular and immediately recognisable form.
Design: 1939
Dimensions: W 68 × D 53 × H 65 cm
Meret Oppenheim
Born in Berlin in 1913, Meret Oppenheim approached design by working with familiar forms, transforming them without altering their structure, thereby challenging habits and expectations related to function. She reflected on domestic objects by intervening on everyday items using unusual materials and combinations. The object retains its recognizability while acquiring a new role in space, balancing use, material, and perception.
