Mimmo Paladino, born in Paduli near Benevento in 1948, is a leading figure of the Italian Transavanguardia. His work draws on archaeological, mythological and archaic imagery, creating a dialogue between painting, sculpture, drawing and installation. In the 1980s he gained international recognition through exhibitions including the Venice Biennale and Documenta.
