Vico Magistretti

Born in Milan in 1920, Vico Magistretti grew up in a family of architects, where design was part of a deeply rooted cultural tradition. His education took place within the same urban context, which in the postwar period became fertile ground for his contributions to the development of Italian industrial design. His work focused on the simplification of design, understood not as formal reduction but as conceptual and functional clarity. Magistretti conceived objects as direct responses to everyday use, combining industrial production, design intuition, and domestic quality, profoundly influencing the way contemporary living is approached.
