Bookcase designed by Roberto Mora for Dilmos, 1989.

Made from sheet iron, this totemic bookcase is built from an arrangement of shelves and storage compartments, bringing function together with a strong sculptural presence. Its exposed structure forms a linear, modular composition, where solid and open sections alternate to give the piece its rhythm. Metal is treated not only as a construction material, but as an expressive surface, giving the bookcase an experimental quality typical of late 1980s Italian design, between functional object and domestic sculpture.

Roberto Mora

Roberto Mora, born in Parma in 1964, lives and works in Sant’Ilario d’Enza, near Reggio Emilia. After beginning his career as a painter and graphic artist, he turned to the practices and theories of radical design in 1993, developing an autonomous design path. Iron became the primary material of his research: elements from diverse origins and forms are recovered and assembled, making recycling a central operational principle. His object-art pieces inhabit a space between function and formal distortion, characterized by a raw aesthetic that over time evolves toward greater lightness, transparency, reinterpretation, and a subtle ironic touch.
