Cumano Folding Table
Achille Castiglioni
Production Zanotta
Table designed by Achille Castiglioni for Zanotta, 1978.
Cumano is a folding table that takes a familiar, traditional form and reduces it to something simple, intelligent and highly practical. The steel rod frame supports a circular painted sheet-metal top, available in four colour variants. The folding mechanism is straightforward and elegantly integrated into the design. A circular hole in the tabletop allows the table to be hung on the wall when not in use, making it even easier to store. With just a few carefully considered elements, the design combines a pared-back structure with a clear, practical function.
Design: 1978
