Bookcase with integrated table designed by Ettore Sottsass for Memphis Milano, 2000.

Part of the Mobili Lunghi collection, presented at the Post Design Gallery in 2000, this piece combines bookcase, work surface and light within a single architectural structure. Three tall, angled elements in veneered composite wood are combined with a black painted steel table, creating a vertical, dynamic composition. The integrated halogen light illuminates the surface and strengthens the functional dimension of the piece, which moves between furniture, micro-architecture and sculptural presence. It bears the Post Design mark, introduced by Memphis in 1997 for its new productions. This example is a unique piece: the first prototype made by the designer in 2000, never put into production.
