Product Details
Chair designed by Tom Dixon for Cappellini, 1991.
With its sinuous, immediately recognisable profile, S-Chair transforms a craft-based technique into an icon of contemporary design. The dark painted metal frame supports a stained wicker seat, recalling the texture of the original marsh-straw version of the chair. The S-shaped profile follows the line of the seated body. The result is a piece with a strong sculptural presence, where manual craft, formal experimentation and industrial production find a precise balance.
