Antique Chinese rug, hand-knotted.

The beige field is ornamented with a geometric central medallion and peony flowers, while the corner panels introduce meander and stepped motifs. The outer border with dragons and clouds creates a more dynamic frame in contrast to the order of the central field. Made in wool, it reflects the decorative repertoire of the Chinese textile tradition between the late Qing period and the early twentieth century.
