Traccia draws on the surrealist world of Meret Oppenheim, transforming a functional object into something enigmatic and instantly recognisable. Its elliptical top, finished in pure gold leaf or white gold leaf, features the 1971 adapted version of the bird footprints first conceived for the original 1939 design. These echo the cast bronze base, where two slender legs end in claw-like feet. Cassina’s reissue preserves the iconic strength of the design, poised between object, image and symbolic presence.

Meret Oppenheim
Born in Berlin in 1913, Meret Oppenheim approached design by working with familiar forms, transforming them without altering their structure, thereby challenging habits and expectations related to function. She reflected on domestic objects by intervening on everyday items using unusual materials and combinations. The object retains its recognizability while acquiring a new role in space, balancing use, material, and perception.
