Bruno Munari
Bruno Munari was an Italian artist, designer and graphic designer, and one of the most important figures in twentieth-century Italian design and visual culture. Active from the 1930s within Second Futurism, he later co-founded the Movimento Arte Concreta in 1948. His multidisciplinary practice crossed art, industrial design, typography, editorial graphics, photography, sculpture, books and education, always guided by experimentation, playfulness and creative research. His work combined visual invention, lightness and subtle humour. Over the course of his career, Munari received many international honours, including several Compasso d’Oro awards and recognition from the Japan Design Foundation.
