Born in Paris in 1949, Philippe Starck is a French architect and designer active in product design, interiors, and architecture. From the beginning of his career, he has developed a direct and cross-disciplinary approach to design, rejecting rigid distinctions between everyday objects and designer pieces. Starck conceives design as a democratic tool, capable of improving life through accessible, intelligent, and often provocative solutions.
