Also known as J. & J. Kohn, Jacob & Josef Kohn was an Austrian furniture manufacturer founded in Vienna in 1849 by Jacob Kohn and his son Josef. The company became one of Austria-Hungary’s leading furniture makers and a major competitor to Gebrüder Thonet. Known for bentwood production, Kohn also collaborated with designers including Josef Hoffmann and artists of the Wiener Werkstätte. Its works are held in major museum collections, including MoMA in New York.
