Born in 1956, René Kemna is a Dutch industrial designer trained at Delft University of Technology. His international career has spanned lighting, furniture and domestic appliances, with projects developed in Italy, Germany and the Netherlands. During the 1980s and 1990s, he designed lighting and other products for companies including Sirrah, iGuzzini and Kartell. Kemna also taught at TU Delft and Design Academy Eindhoven. His later work has focused on energy efficiency and ecodesign, bringing together product development, engineering and environmental research.
