Sofa designed by Studio65 for Gufram, 1970.

Shaped like a pair of oversized red lips, Bocca turns seating into a pop icon and an instantly symbolic object. Its compact, continuous volume and smooth, soft-edged surface give the sofa an immediate sculptural presence, poised between irony, desire and visual culture. Designed by Studio65 for Gufram in 1970, the piece directly references Salvador Dalí’s portrait of Mae West and the world of Hollywood cinema, and has become one of the most recognisable examples of Italian Radical Design.

Design: 1970
Dimensions: W 212 × D 80 × H 85 cm

Studio 65

Studio65 was founded in Turin in 1965 by Franco Audrito as an avant-garde experimental collective. The project brought together a diverse group of artists, painters, photographers, and aspiring filmmakers, all students of the Faculty of Architecture, united by a desire to transcend disciplinary boundaries and redefine the languages of contemporary design.
