Arne Jacobsen

Arne Jacobsen

Born in Copenhagen in 1902, Arne Jacobsen was a Danish architect and designer, among the leading figures of Scandinavian functionalism. His design practice developed through a rigorous control of form and a deep focus on use, understood as the relationship between object, space, and body. Jacobsen conceived design as part of a coherent system, where architecture and furnishings work together to define an environment that is essential, measured, and profoundly human.
